(Accademia Delle Scienze Di Torino Corpus Juvarrianum).

Filippo Juvarra one of Italy's most imaginative draughtsmen and an architect of supreme originality and accomplishment, came from Messina to Rome in 1704, when the last heirs of the great Baroque flowering of the seventeenth century were still active in the City. He remained there for ten years before being summoned to Turin, whose appearance and that of its surroundings he was to transform, while consolidating his international fame. While in Rome he produced hundreds of brilliant drawings, many of them for theatrical sets or for designs which were never executed. These drawings (which are now scattered throughout the world) are here discussed in detail for the first time, and over four hundred of them are reproduced.
