Glass and Stained Glass

The use of glass plates to put on the windows established itself in imperial Rome through a revolutionary technique of blowing (attested by Plinio), and quickly spread for its practicality. Under Ottaviano Augusto, glass production became a real industry.
In the late Roman Empire spread the use of stained glass windows in houses, in churches and prestigious buildings. Within this section you will find a wide selection of books dealing with the history, applications, of the glass windows in human life. You will also find essays and monographs on the major designers and glass artists and major schools like the Murano one.
